Patrick said he recently purchased 2 500gb SATA drives and made a myth TV box. I think he used these controllers for his mythtv box. Bob G. mentioned that on of his friend’s streams his mythtv to a webserver so that he can watch streaming TV on his iphone.

Someone asked why they should use Ubuntu 7x over the Long Term supported 6x version. It seems the 7x version of Ubuntu has all the new stuff while 6x just gets security patches.

There was some talk over different file systems. Most seem to like XFS or Reiser FS, but Reiser is not be improved upon. Two of the developers that worked on the Reiser FS are in jail. One confessed to a few murders. The main developer is charged with the murder of his wife who disappeared. So, for journal file systems JFS, ext3, and XFS are the most popular Linux ones being improved upon.

Wikis were talked about. It is assumed that the PHP based mediawiki which is used by wikipedia is a little complex. It does require both PHP5 and MYSQL. Bob G. said he used Moin Moin, which only requires Python. Both work well, but Moin Moin does appear simpler to setup.

There was some talk about naming servers. Some name then after gods, foot ball teams, or services. Bob said he used Visual Thesaurus and wikipedia to use video game names.
