Meeting Notes March 2008

About 6 people showed up for the meeting. At this meeting we had two new people. One person Bob, brought in his new Linux Laptop. The other, Perry, was interested in gaining more information about Real Time Linux for embedded systems. Since Patrick, our embedded systems guru was missing, we gave Perry some ideas on where to find more information on Real Time Linux. Perry was interested in processor locking for Intel based Real Time Linux devices that he was going to propose be used for commercial applications. For Bob, he was just getting familiar with the new operating system on his tiny computer. During the meeting Nick helped Bob move some get more familiar with the laptop he purchased from Amazon.com. Acer1 More information on the Acer can be found here.

John came a little late and brought some very good chocolates that he got from Trader Joes. Additionally, he went into more detail about his myth tv box. John said with his mythtv box he can record three channels while watching one recording. This made me drool since my TiVo can not. It seems MythTv is much more powerful than a TiVo or other DVRs on the market. In John’s box he has three tuner cards in it and a 320GB drive mirrored that runs a version of myth tv with Knoppix from mysettopbox He said myth tv has a free directory of listings and works great, just like TiVo.
Perry mentioned that when he did a google search an old page came up. I think I fixed that issue now.
