Regarding FreeConferenceCall.com, while it's interface is awkward and misleading, it does not require compiling, at least not insofar as requiring a gcc compiler using configure, make, make install.

To install it, download the desktop application from their web site, unpack the tarball by typing tar -xvf FCC_installer.tar, and run the resulting .lin file. You can probably run it from the command line, preceded by chmod a+x filename, but the lazy way (i.e., my way) is just to click on it in your file manager (I'm using nemo). Hope this helps. 

I know that Zoom isn't open source, but compared to Zoom, FreeConferenceCall is a pain in the neck. It creates the perception that you must be on a telephone connection during the conference while you are using your computer. In actuality, using the "Invite" functionality allows bypassing the telephone requirement. Poor design, in my humble opinion.

   More complete instructions would help, because everyone does not know the omitted steps.  Ordinary mortals wish the RFC required the inclusion of distro name, version, and a date on all documentation.

The next Monday LUG meeting will be virtual.
 
We will be using FreeConferenceCall.com to host the meeeting. Please download the client and be online at 7PM Monday. The meeting info will be posted to the list around 5PM on Monday. 'Free Conference Call' has Linux clients that can be run as a non-root user.
