Ted,

It is probably an issue with the distro they are using. I work with DL380s in the office. I'll drop him a line and see if I can get any additional information.

Jon

Hi, I received this random request for help, so I am just passing it on.

Does anyone know what may cause this error.

Hi Ted,

I found your info on Linux’s website. I work for a Federal reseller. I
didn’t know if you might be able to help me or point me in the right
direction. I sold 2 HP DL380 servers to the Maryland Board of Elections.
The servers are part number 417458-001. They are dual core servers. When
the customer fires up the machines, Linux is giving an error message
stating that this version of linux does not support quad core
procs......Unless by some devilish miracle, the 2 servers went out with
the wrong processors, could this be some software issue not reading the
gear properly? I have no knowledge in Linux, so I don’t know how to
wiggle around to see what processors are installed with out physically
going into the machine.....any ideas?

Take Care,
